Jenks CAP Cadet Joins Okla. Air National Guard Cyber Team

JENKS, Okla. – On July 14, 2020, Jenks Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadet Lt. Col. Bailey Lunsford stepped into the office of Technical Sergeant Cory Shaw, the senior recruiter at the 138th Fighter Wing of the Tulsa Air National Guard. Lunsford’s six years of serving and training in the Civil Air Patrol culminated in this meeting.

Lunsford achieved the CAP Billy Mitchell Award, which less than 15% of CAP cadets achieve, in April 2017. Mitchell cadets who enlist in the Air Force enter the service at the advanced grade of E-3, Airman First Class...

Local Civil Air Patrol cadet will attend U.S. Air Force Academy

Oklahoma Air National Guardsman and Civil Air Patrol Officer appointed to Air Force Academy

TULSA, Okla. – Oklahoma Air National Guard Senior Airman Kurt LeVan has accepted an appointment with the United States Air Force Academy.

Oklahoma Wing Conducts a Multiple-Disaster Field Exercise

PIEDMONT, Okla. – On February 15, 2020, 117 Civil Air Patrol (CAP) volunteers participated in a simulated multiple-disaster exercise, designed to test the wing’s emergency services and disaster response capabilities in dealing with a hypothetical large-scale earthquake and a huge tornado that resulted in much highway infrastructure damage, a devastated town, flooding, loss of communications, a downed aircraft, and lost crewmembers...

Oklahoma Wing Conducts a Training Leaders of Cadets Course

JENKS, Okla. – On Jan. 25, 2020, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) members from units around the state met in Jenks to attend the Oklahoma Wing presentation of Training Leaders of Cadets (TLC). This is the premiere training venue for cadet program officers to learn how to better mentor cadets and be more effective managers of cadet squadrons. The course is part of a 3-course program and a component of the Cadet Program Officers Specialty Track. All adult members are encouraged to receive this training so as to gain a better understanding of the cadet program and how to retain and recruit youth.

Oklahoma Wing Goes Live on Air to Honor Veterans

TULSA, Okla. – On December 13, 2019, two Oklahoma Wing Riverside Flight cadets went live on local newscast to invite the public to join their unit in laying wreaths on National Wreaths Across America Day. The ceremony took place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.

Good Day Tulsa, KTUL Channel 8’s midmorning live telecast anchored by Katy Kramer, hosted the cadets at approximately 8:30 a.m., with the broadcast beginning at 9:25 a.m.

Cadet Lt. Col. Bailey Lunsford and Cadet Airman First Class Chloe Shannon tackled the world of live television in support of honoring veterans.
